The statue of unity is a statue of Indian freedom fighter sardar Vallabhbhai patel(1875-1950). He is also known as iron Man of india.
Why it is called the statue of unity
We have to understand the critical situation of Independence time. Then the Muslim was demanding a separate country for them that is pakistan. The Muslim was not agree with the Indian national Congress (INC). Viceroy Lord montbatten accept the demand of the muslim. India was divided into indiaand pakistan.further it was said that any provinces can make a separate country for itself. It's called mountbatten plan. Then sardar Patel play an important role to unite all the provinces together in India. He United the nation. That's why this tag is given to him.
Feature of the statue of unity
- The Statue of Unity is the tallest statue in the world with a 182 m height. It can be seen from 7 kilometre far.
- It is located on Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada river in Gujarat, India.
- It's face is 30 feet high. it's made with the help of 3D technique.
- It's hands are 70 feet long.
- It's legs are 85 feet long.
- It's eyes , lips and button of jacket are higher than human beings.
- 3400 labourers worked to make this huge statue.
- It took 42 month in completion.
- There will be made a sardar Museum that kept 40,000 documents and 2,000 photo and many audio tape of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
- There will be play a laser show on his life journey on the statue.
- A lift from the statue will allow tourists to reach the heart of the Statue people from hair can see the view of the Sardar Sarovar Dam besides the flowers of Narmada Valley on the 17 km long cost.
- It is designed by ram v. sutar.
- It is built by Larsen and Toubro.
- 85% bronze is used in making of the Statue.
